David Shipton has always had a passion for the ocean. Growing up on boats and spending
his childhood on the water, it is no surprise he spent his young adult life as a sail maker and competing professionally as a skiff racer. Throughout this journey David successfully represented Australia and won state, national and international events. Yearning to indulge his creative spirit, David decided to exchange the intensity of a racing career for a far more subdued, cruising lifestyle and began writing.

Through his early relationship with the ocean David witnessed firsthand the impact humans are having on the planet, this inspired his journey and provided a focus for his passion. Getting things published was difficult and David began to realise that what the stories lacked were images. In a rapidly changing world where photos sell magazines regardless of the content, he turned his hand to photography. In 2009 David’s daily pilgrimage to capture the sunrise began. With the simple intention of sharing with the world his favorite time of the day and to raise an awareness of environmental issues so close to his heart, Morning Glory photography was born. A natural eye for capturing the moment quickly turned into a passion that has expanded into videography and documentary filmmaking. While the sky is the limit for David Shipton, landscapes will always remain dear to his heart and the plight of the planet his direction.
